What is bungee jumping in New Zealand cricket?

new zealand bungee
Evan asked:

I only know the Indian squad including Dhoni and Sachin were expected to jump from the Auckland harbour before commencing the tour? And, Dhoni & Co have refused to oblige. What exactly is this strange ritual? What is its relation to cricket? And, why’d high profile players risk their lives in this way?
Edit: My God! no wonder the Indians refused to humour the Tourism Dept. How can a sane man put all his hope on a piece of rubber band?!. The 21st century is getting weirder and weirder.
Edit: Well, it looks almost harmless. Wonder why Dhoni refused to oblige!

It’s not a ritual. It is to promote tourism in NZ.

Bungee jumping is fun and very safe. they took a far greater risk if they fly on a plane. or even more driving in a car.

Bungee Jumping has nothing to do with cricket at all, and am sure you know it by now. Its just a way to attract tourism here. Must say, it takes a lot of courage to jump from such high heights and no wonder people will think thrice before doing this!
